Yet, they typically offer only their own internal product line; causing them to be limited and not as rate competitive.

Mortgage brokers offer a variety of different lender's pricing and products, allowing them to be more competitive with respect to rates and products. Yet, they do not control the appraisal, underwriting, closing or funding of your loan, as those functions are outsourced to their lender source. In that respect, they serve as a broker, without internal control of the many important aspects of the lending process.
